Dr. Saeed Namaki, former Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, visited the Medical Procurement Organization, where he met with senior executives and expressed appreciation for the organization's critical contributions during the COVID-19 crisis, particularly in securing vaccine supplies.
According to the Public Relations and
International Unit of the Medical Procurement Organization, on Sunday,
September 21, 2025, Dr. Saeed Namaki paid an official visit to the
organization. The meeting, attended by Dr. Shanesaz, Managing Director of the
organization, along with a group of senior managers, included a review of key
actions undertaken during the pandemic. Dr. Namaki also extended his gratitude
to Dr. Pirhossein Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, and
acknowledged the strategic role of the organization in ensuring the
availability of medicines and medical equipment.
During Dr. Namaki’s tenure as
Minister and at the height of the COVID-19 crisis, the Medical Procurement
Organization—through its commercial subsidiary, Soha Kish Commercial
Company—successfully imported over 112 million doses of vaccine. This
achievement, made possible through coordinated efforts with the Iranian Red
Crescent Society, the Ministry of Health, and other responsible entities,
played a vital role in curbing the spread of the disease and safeguarding
public health.
Welcoming Dr. Namaki, Dr. Shanesaz
expressed appreciation for his leadership during the pandemic and remarked,
“Dr. Namaki’s actions during that critical period marked a turning point in the
history of public health in our country. The Medical Procurement Organization
is honored to have stood alongside him in fulfilling its mission.”
In his remarks, Dr. Namaki
highlighted the historical significance of the Medical Procurement Organization
in meeting the nation’s pharmaceutical needs, stating, “This organization has
consistently served as a resilient arm of the health system during challenging
times. Its structural design enables it to serve as a central pillar in both
routine and emergency supply chains. We must remain focused solely on serving
the people, free from political distractions.”
He further expressed optimism about
the future of the organization, citing the presence of a dedicated and expert
team under the leadership of Dr. Shanesaz and with the guidance and support of
Dr. Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
The visit concluded with technical
discussions and a retrospective review of past experiences, which were
described as a valuable opportunity to strengthen future collaboration.
