Dr. Mohammadreza Shanehsaz, Managing Director of the Medical Procurement Organization, highlighted the measures taken in the field of medicine supply and resource management, emphasizing that the organization, by leveraging specialized capacities, has played an effective role in supporting the healthcare system and reducing patients’ expenses.
According
to the Public Relations and International Affairs Unit of the Medical
Procurement Organization, Dr. Shanehsaz stated that the organization has always
been at the forefront of serving the public:
“Ensuring
the sustainable supply of medicines and expanding the pharmaceutical basket are
among our top priorities. Through intelligent resource management and close
cooperation with specialized institutions, we have sought to meet patients’
needs in critical circumstances and to facilitate access to essential
medicines.”
He
added:
“Implementing
pooled procurement policies and negotiating with distributors and suppliers has
reduced final costs and improved the efficiency of pharmacies. These measures,
in addition to strengthening the organization’s financial sustainability, have
contributed to optimizing healthcare expenditures.”
Referring
to the optimization of supply processes, Dr. Shanehsaz noted:
“With
this approach, we have been able to mitigate risks in the supply chain and
guarantee patients’ access to vital medicines. Moreover, by securing special
discounts, patients’ out-of-pocket payments have been reduced, while the
quality of pharmaceutical services has improved.”
The
Managing Director further stated:
“Close
cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration has reinforced the supply
network and expanded the range of available products. In this process,
specialized units, including the Commercial Department, have played a
complementary role in achieving the organization’s objectives.”
In
conclusion, Dr. Shanehsaz stressed:
“By
assuming a strategic role in economic management, expanding the pharmaceutical
basket, and directly supporting patients, the Medical Procurement Organization
has taken significant steps toward enhancing pharmaceutical services, financial
sustainability, and operational efficiency. These efforts, aligned with the
objectives of the Red Crescent Society and in coordination with the Ministry of
Health and other specialized institutions, have made a valuable contribution to
strengthening the national healthcare system and alleviating patients’
suffering.”
