For more than three decades, Helal Iran Medical Devices Company, affiliated with the Medical Procurement Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent, has played a pivotal role in meeting the needs of the national health system. Recognized as one of the key pillars of self-sufficiency in the field of dialysis and medical equipment, the company has strengthened its position in the supply chain of essential items for patients by focusing on quality enhancement and adopting modern technologies.
According to the Public Relations and
International Affairs Unit of the Medical Procurement Organization, the company
has increased its dialysis product capacity from five million to over ten and a
half million units, while production of injection supplies has risen from 186
million to more than 315 million units. With close to one trillion tomans
(about 13.5 million dollars) invested in modernizing machinery and
infrastructure, Helal Iran Medical Devices Company is well-prepared to meet the
country’s future needs and to ensure sustainable development in the medical
equipment sector.
Dr. Seyed Bahman Sobhani, Managing Director of
Helal Iran Medical Devices Company, highlighted global developments in dialysis
and emphasized that the innovative Hemodiafiltration (HDF) technology will
gradually replace conventional dialysis. This method reduces water, energy, and
serum consumption by up to 30 percent, improves patients’ quality of life, and
enables their faster return to daily activities.
He further noted that the expansion of dialysis
centers is a strategic priority. Under this plan, 2,000 dialysis beds will be
established across 80 advanced centers nationwide, with 350 HDF-based dialysis
beds scheduled to become operational in the near future.
Dr. Sobhani also identified entry into the
plasma-derived medicines sector as another strategic mission of the company. By
collecting and refining one million liters of plasma domestically, more than 70
percent of the national demand for vital medicines such as IVIG, albumin, and
factor VIII will be met. This initiative will significantly reduce reliance on
imports and ensure patients’ access to these essential therapies.
He concluded by affirming that the ultimate
goal of Helal Iran Medical Devices Company is to serve as a strong arm of the
national health system. Through expanding production, enhancing quality, and
leveraging modern technologies, the company aims to reduce dependence on
imported critical equipment and guarantee patients’ access to essential medical
supplies.
