Medical Procurement Organization, leveraging its specialized expertise and operational capacities, plays a pivotal role in supporting the healthcare system and alleviating the financial burden on patients. In this context, the continuous and sustainable supply of pharmaceuticals, along with the expansion of its pharmaceutical product portfolio and medical consumables, is pursued as a key strategic priority. Optimal resource management and effective engagement with specialized bodies have created the conditions for adequately responding to patient needs in critical situations and have facilitated easier access to essential medicines.
According
to the Public Relations and International Affairs Unit of the Medical Procurement
Organization, within this framework, the implementation of consolidated
procurement policies and targeted negotiations with suppliers and distribution
companies has yielded significant achievements. These measures have not only
reduced overall costs and enhanced the efficiency of pharmacies but have also
contributed to optimizing healthcare system expenditures and strengthening the
organization's financial sustainability. Along the same path, by leveraging the
capacity of single-prescription and emergency import companies, while adhering
to discipline, timely payments, and transparent accountability, the Medical Procurement
Organization has established itself as a credible and reliable partner for
importers—a standing that has cemented the organization's position among
suppliers both financially and in terms of guaranteeing legal and timely access
to medicines for end consumers. This transparent and law-abiding performance
has transformed the Medical Procurement Organization into a trusted executive
arm of the Food and Drug Administration, whether in normal or crisis conditions.
Improving
procurement processes and re-engineering the supply chain are among other
measures implemented with the aim of reducing risks and ensuring patient access
to vital medicines. It is worth noting that extensive cooperation with the Food
and Drug Administration has strengthened the supply network and facilitated the
expansion of the product portfolio. In this regard, the organization is
actively pursuing the development of its pharmaceutical portfolio by obtaining
the necessary permits from the Food and Drug Administration. Along this path,
specialized units such as the Commercial Affairs Department have also played
their complementary role in achieving the organization's overarching objectives.
By focusing on economic management, portfolio expansion, and
direct patient support, the organization has taken effective steps toward
enhancing pharmaceutical services, ensuring financial sustainability, and
increasing operational efficiency. Collectively, these measures—carried out
within the framework of the Iranian Red Crescent Society's humanitarian
objectives and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other relevant
bodies—have made a significant contribution to strengthening the country's healthcare
system and reducing patient concerns.
